The Life House

The Life House is the Washington Mind base, a dedicated wellbeing resource for the whole community. We offer a range of mental health and wellbeing services, training and activities. The Life House provides a safe and welcoming space for members of the community who are interested in learning new skills, attending one of our groups or activities or just relaxing in our tea room. We are able to deliver a wide range of support by working in partnership with other local services and organisations who also strive to improve community health and wellbeing. Members of the community are invited to come along to the Life House to access information from our ‘wellbeinginfohub’, meet new people and engage in activities that will help to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

We now have a packed schedule of services and activities which enable people to get together and enjoy activities such as Open Mind sessions, Creative Mind sessions, Pet Therapy, Photography Outdoors, and Book Club – Click here to find out more. Our partners also deliver alternative therapies, beauty treatments, exercise classes and slimming classes.

If you are interested in hiring one of our rooms for wellbeing, training or educational purposes, please contact us on 0191 417 8043 or email: info@washingtonmind.org.uk.

"Our Place"

This is a relatively large, light and airy space on the ground floor, with good access and an adjoining outside seating area with a lot of potential for our community to use the space.

After recent consultation "Our Place" was by far the most popular name choice of a name for the space, with the majority of participant agreeing this name fit really well with our aims for the area. One of our service users wrote the following poem which we have had printed to display on the wall;

There’s “no place” anywhere near this place that’s anything like this place so…
this must be “The Place”

To … Have a drink and a think,
To … Meet and eat,
To … Care and Share,

Or if a quiet read is what you need,
Come to “Our Place”

We have recently added partitioning doors to the room, which can now be totally independent from the adjoining reception area.

Members of the community are invited to come along to the Life House to access information from our ‘wellbeinginfohub'.

This area is adjoined to the reception area and has a range of hard-copy information on a range of wellbeing subjects and local services.

This room complements the work of www.wellbeinginfo.org  - This online guide was designed to give advice and information about how to keep your mind and body healthy and where to find help if you have a problem.
