Jacqui Reeves
Services Manager
I am Jacqui Reeves, Services Manager here at Washington Mind; I’ve worked in mental health since the early 80’s, starting out nursing with Gateshead Health Authority and then retraining as a Counsellor. Thirty something years later I feel privileged to be a part of Washington Mind’s history of providing much needed services for our local community.
The 80’s was also the time we started our family and we are now proud parents of two lovely daughters and even prouder grandparents to our gorgeous Grandson. Any spare time I get I love to spend with them and the rest of my family and friends …throw in the odd holiday preferably with sunshine and…happy days.

I was young once and was enthusiastically involved in the Punk scene of 1977. Yeah….I know…..such a long, long time ago. I still enjoy a good pogo though….. then a bit of a lie down….!!!!

Jane Gash
Young People's Counsellor
jane@washingtonmind.org.ukMy name is Jane Gash and I have been a volunteer with Mind for over two years, I started as a volunteer with the drop in centre to facilitate the Reel Therapy session on Tuesday afternoon. This was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the service users ( not to mention the fact that I got to watch some really good films). As I embarked on my Foundation Degree in Counselling I was able to see clients and gain experience at my own pace taking on clients that would ease me gently into the world of mental health. I have attended some really good courses and one in particular was the Mental Health First Aid Course, I adapted this course and delivered it to my colleagues at Northern Rock, this was a real eye opener for them and took away some of the stigma surrounding mental health. I have passed my Foundation Degree now and i am happy to say that MIND still want me to stay on as a volunteer counsellor, I receive excellent support from my supervisor and I find the experience of working in such a caring and busy office a real privilege.
My favourite musical is ‘West Side Story’ and my favourite bands are Coldplay and Pink Floyd!

Pam Armitage

pam@washingtonmind.org.ukHi I’m Pam. I’ve been working as a sessional trainer with Washington Mind since 2012 but have worked in a variety of different roles in mental health since 1995. I deliver a range of mental health courses to volunteers, carers and professionals with the aim of increasing people’s knowledge, attitudes, skills and confidence to support others. I also deliver community courses at the Life House on topics such as stress management and assertiveness. I love the fact that every group or course I am part of is very different to the next due to the unique qualities that each participant brings. It is also very rewarding to be part of something that can have such a positive impact on people’s lives or on the support they get from others.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching films and going to the gym. I also like to walk along our beautiful coast (with a hot chocolate and piece of cake at the end!)
